Field Notes: The Empathy-Gratitude Connection, Clarity, and William Arthur Ward
I. Notes From Me 1. The Empathy-Gratitude Connection"Empathy and gratitude are distinct forces that, when properly understood and intentionally combined, create something powerful."
I break down the differences and look at the intersection between these two powerful forces. Read the article here.
Whether you're celebrating with turkey and all the trimmings, or simply taking a quiet moment to reflect, I hope you'll join me in embracing gratitude not just as an action, but as a lens through which to view your own path.
You know those moments when life's puzzle pieces suddenly click into place? When the fog lifts and you can finally see the path ahead with crystal clarity?
That's my Thanksgiving story this year.
I've been getting not-so-subtle nudges from the universe about my purpose. Actually, "nudges" might be too gentle a word – think more like cosmic two-by-fours to the head.
And you know what? I'm profoundly grateful for every single one of those wake-up calls.
Because now I see it with perfect clarity: My purpose isn't just about teaching innovation or driving change. It's about serving leaders who are trying to navigate the choppy waters of transformation. It's about empowering others to create meaningful impact in their organizations and communities.
This Thanksgiving, as I sit around the table with my family, that's what I'm giving thanks for – the gift of clarity.
II. Notes From The Frontline When Turkeys FlyHere's a fun fact to share around the table: Did you know that wild turkeys can actually fly, unlike their domesticated counterparts? While they're not exactly graceful high-altitude flyers, wild turkeys can reach speeds up to 55 miles per hour in short bursts of flight and can even sleep in trees. However, they prefer to spend most of their time on the ground. The domestic turkeys we typically eat for Thanksgiving have been bred to be much heavier, making flight impossible for them.

III. Notes as Quotes"Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it." — William Arthur Ward
The importance of not only feeling grateful but also sharing that gratitude with others is critical. I know this is something I can do better at: taking the time and effort to actually share my gratitude.
